With the PatPat Mod, you can pat any living mob or player by crouching and right-clicking with an empty hand.

There are also custom animations like Bonk, Piston, and others available for download on Modrinth.

There’s also a server-side plugin that lets other players see who you are patting. If your server doesn’t have the plugin, you can use EnderKill98’s ProxChat mod - it sends data through block break abort packets to share messages and PatPat triggers.
